Let's take a stroll from the Shing Mun Reservoir Dam and then head into the Maclehose Trail, Section 7. We'll have a bit of a climb up to Needle Hill (532m), but it'll be worth it for the cracking views over Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung, Sha Tin and the Ting Kau Bridge, not to mention the Lion Rock and Ma On Shan mountain ranges, and the sea view. Finally, we'll make our way down to the Sha Tin MTR station, where we can treat ourselves to a nice yum cha lunch. Do make sure you bring plenty of water and wear non-slip shoes, gloves, and sun protection - we don't want you getting caught out in the elements, do we?

Today we'll be having a lovely little wander through the low hills of the Yuen Long District. We'll be starting off from Long Ping Station, making our way through the Long Ping Estate shopping centre, and heading straight for the first peak, Nga Tsin Shan. Along the way, you'll spot a nice little shelter from the wind and rain, so feel free to pop in for a breather if you fancy. After taking in the views from Pak Hok Shi Ling (53m), we'll reach the top of Nga Tsin Shan (76m) where you can gaze out over the lovely residential estates in the Castle Peak area. And if we keep going up to the peak of Kai Shan (121m), you'll be treated to a cracking view stretching all the way from Zhuhai to Shenzhen across the Hou Hai Bay - the high-rises as far as the eye can see! From there, we'll make our way down to Tai Ching Wai Village to conclude our hike. And to top it all off, we can jump on the minibus 74 back to Yuen Long for a proper meal. Now, do take things at your own pace and make sure you stay nice and hydrated.

We'll be setting off on this little hike around 10 o'clock in the morning from the Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park (that's the bus stop, by the way). For the first 500 meters from the starting point to the entrance of the Wilson Trail, we'll be on a paved road. But once we get past the entrance, we'll be heading towards Jardine's Lookout on a lovely hiking path. And let me tell you, the views of Hong Kong Island and a bit of the Kowloon Peninsula from up there are just smashing. From Jardine's Lookout, we'll be going downhill towards the Jardine's North Catch-water, and then it's a bit of a steep climb up to Siu Ma Shan. But don't worry, along the way you'll be able to spot the Tai Tam Reservoir off to the right. After Siu Ma Shan, the rest of the route to the final point at the Braemar Hill Bus Station should be a nice easy stroll. Now, just a heads up - there aren't any restaurants or shops near the end, so make sure you pack plenty of water and snacks to keep you going.

Route: Mount Paker Road
We'll be heading up to Mount Parker for this little jaunt. And the good news is, the whole route is on nice paved paths, so it should be a right doddle to hike. After we've worked up an appetite trekking up there, we'll stop for a proper lunch. Now, what shall we fancy eating, eh? We can have a proper chat about that once we get going. Sound like a plan? Brilliant! Shall we get a move on then?
