2026 March Hiking Schedule
Digests:
March 1 (Sun)
We'll be climbing up to Tai Sheng Tuk, a modest peak at 399 metres with steep ascents and descents. The good news is the stairs are brilliantly well-maintained, making the climb quite manageable. We'd recommend taking your time and enjoying the journey at a leisurely pace—the spectacular views from the top are absolutely worth the effort! Once we've worked up an appetite, we'll head down for a well-deserved lunch. We're keeping our options open, so do come prepared with your suggestions and we can decide together where sounds most appealing!
We'll be tackling Lantau Trail Section 3, walking from Pak Kung Au to Lantau Peak at 934 metres—Hong Kong's second-highest mountain. After a well-earned break at the summit to soak in the views, we'll make our way down to the historic Po Lin Monastery. This route offers absolutely stunning scenery throughout! Once we've finished, we'll hop on the bus and enjoy yum cha in Tung Chung to refuel. Please do bring plenty of water and wear non-slip shoes, gloves, and sun protection to keep yourself comfortable and safe throughout the day.
March 15 (Sun)
Route: Pedder Street/Robinson Road/Old Peak Road/The Peak/Cha Tham Path/Central
After exploring the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, we'll ascend Old Peak Road, enjoying a forest bathing hike. The verdant surroundings will embrace our group as we climb, urban sounds fading into a gentle background. At the summit, we'll practice the simplified 24-form Tai Chi the second stage, our movements flowing against misty mountain peaks and tropical foliage. This morning journey will connect us with nature, bridging city energy and the meditative wisdom of ancient movement practices.
March 21 (Sat)
We'll be climbing Lion Rock, a 495-metre peak located at the heart of the Kowloon Peninsula. The initial stretch up to Amah Rock involves quite a few steps, but once you reach that point, you'll join a proper hiking trail leading towards Lion Rock itself. The slope does become rather steep as you approach the summit, but the effort is absolutely rewarded with a spectacular 360° panoramic view stretching across both sides of the harbour—you'll spot Hong Kong Island and Pat Sin Leng in the New Territories, with Kowloon and Shatin spread out directly below you. After taking in those magnificent views, we'll make our way down towards Wong Tai Sin, where we'll round off the day with lunch at our favourite local Sichuan restaurant.
